Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI) Equipment
Magnetic particle inspection (MT/MPI) finds surface and near-surface cracks in ferromagnetic parts quickly and with high sensitivity. It is one of the most efficient methods for series inspection of forgings, castings and welded parts.
We offer horizontal wet benches, part-specific automated MPI lines, portable power units for field work and post-inspection demagnetisation systems, configured to ASTM E1444 and related standards.

Frequently asked questions
How does magnetic particle testing work?
The ferromagnetic part is magnetised; a surface or near-surface crack makes the flux leak out. Magnetic particles gather at this leakage field and make the crack visible.
MPI bench or portable power unit?
Horizontal MPI benches give fast, repeatable inspection of series parts in the workshop. Portable power units with cables and probes are used on large structures, welds and in the field.
Why demagnetise after inspection?
Residual magnetism can attract chips, deflect welding arcs, upset sensitive equipment and cause problems in later processes. Demagnetisation brings the residual field down to an acceptable level.
